Why remove contact details and URLs from videos?
Including contact details and URLs in your videos or anywhere on your Encore profile encourages clients to leave the platform and book elsewhere.
We pay for advertising to ensure our musicians continue to receive enquiries and have a full-time team of booking specialists calling clients every day - so if a booking goes off-platform we don't recover these costs and the business is damaged.
Most online platforms and agencies have a similar policy of asking their musicians to upload unbranded video content, so producing unbranded videos will also save you time in future if you plan to use other channels to win work online.
Getting the video file
If you're familiar with handling your own video materials, you should have the file stored on your computer. However, if the video only exists on YouTube you can download it using a tool like this. Make sure you own the video or have contacted the owner of the video to ask permission before downloading the video.
Video editing tools for Windows
If you have a computer with Windows 10 you'll probably have free video editing software already installed in your Photos app. You can learn how to trim your videos using the Photos app here.
For older versions of Windows (like Windows 7 or 8) you may have Windows Movie Maker installed. You can learn how to edit video using this application here.
Video editing tools for Macs
If you have an Apple Mackintosh computer, you'll probably already have video editing software installed called iMovie.

Other free video editing software
If you don't have any of the software mentioned above, you may want to download a new video editing programme. We'd recommend Lightworks (they are highly reviewed by TechRadar) which works on both Windows and Macs.
You can download Lightworks here and learn how to edit videos using this programme here.
